Thank you for coming to my site!
I am an international Social Worker and aspiring Attorney who prides herself in the betterment of individuals. My work supports the mission of helping individuals become the best version of themselves, supporting them to see themselves as victors despite negative narratives that have been painted for them . It is a mission that aligns with my own educational pathway to social work, to serve the needs of our most vulnerable members.
My prior course work in cultural anthropology as an undergraduate student has allowed me to gain an understanding and appreciation of the world, and ways in which we can each become an agent for change, in both the local and international community. As a social work student, the importance of cultural competency is one of the many skills needed to understand individuals and their surrounding communities. It provides the ability to step back and view the community holistically, allowing individuals the space to express heritage and culture through a personal narrative, rather than make assumptions.
As a MSW graduate, I I have a track record of clinical and advocacy skills working with vulnerable members. During my internship, and as part of my degree program at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CSSW), I saw firsthand the limitations facing so many organizations charged with providing services to underserved populations. As a result, many of these individuals did not receive the necessary resources for which they were eligible and so desperately needed. The lack of my control in tempering the pangs of need became almost unbearable on a day-to-day basis. As a social worker, my role has been to provide clients with resources, counseling, and in general, help individuals successfully navigate some of life’s most difficult moments.
